I must say that writing a blog is never something I saw in my future. I’m a type A, plan your day, plan your life, plan your kids day type of person. So this wasn’t in the plan, but life is funny that way. Actually looking back, life hasn’t really followed my plan. But it has gone exactly as it was meant to be.
As a child my parents were very creative. My dad was Mr. DIY, “This Old House” was on every weekend and my mom ran a drapery business from home. Surrounded by bolts of beautiful fabric, I would spend hours drawing floor plans, cutting out magazine images of beautiful rooms and designing spaces. My Type A personality was strong even then. Everything had a place and I found great joy organizing every cupboard, drawer and closet in our house. I would recreate the organized closet in my favorite children's book.

And my Christmas list included a label maker...yeah I know. When it came time to go to college, I of course followed my obvious path and pursued a degree in business and started a career in banking. Oh wait, so obvious now that wasn’t the path that was meant to be. But that’s okay, 15 years in banking was full of great people, life lessons, and business lessons that have given me a great foundation to build a business upon. Throughout these years I ran a small organizing business on the side, helping friends and family and then their friends and families. My word of mouth side gig, kept my passion for this in check. A few years back I had the opportunity to leave my banking job and stay home with my sweet girls. I’m so thankful for this time with them as they grow too fast! However, during that time my creative juices came flowing out. Believe it or not, banking wasn’t a great creative outlet! I began to think about my future and what I really wanted to spend the rest of my working life doing. I knew I’d love to really give my organization business a chance to grow, but I always felt it would perfectly pair with design. It was at this time that light bulbs started turning on, doors started opening, business plans were written (remember my Type A and need for a plan) and I realized THIS was where I was meant to be! I went back to school to study design, worked at the cutest retail and design studio with some amazingly talented designers that I continued to learn from, worked with some fabulous clients and THEN COVID. This unfortunately meant the end to the cute studio. But this meant the launching point to everything I had worked towards, starting my own business. Sure I never imagined starting out on my own during a worldwide pandemic and in the middle of a recession. But here we go!
I believe that designing the perfect room is a combination of capturing the personality of the client and soul of the space. To equally balance this beauty, there must be a flow and function that creates a calm force in your space. I fully understand what an honor it is to be invited into your home and I cherish the opportunity to get to know you and your family so that we, together, can create space that is perfect for you. A space that is Serene & Sassy.
I look forward to working with you and getting to know you via my digital platforms. Follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and this blog. I will bring you along on all the creative fun, for my before and after pictures of my client work, inspire you with design and organization tips, and some fun DIY projects.
